Hideki Matsuyama Keeps Swinging!

Posted

Phiten ambassador Hideki Matsuyama is a professional golfer from Japan. He was born February 25, 1992, in Ehime, Japan. He first played golf as a four-year-old when his father introduced him to the game.

Currently, a mainstay in the top ten golfers in the world, Matsuyama works tirelessly towards his goal to be the no. 1 ranked golfer in the world. You never hear much about him because he is always off working on his game in some capacity.

On tour, Matsuyama is respected and admired for his work ethic—he is almost always the last golfer to leave the driving range—and you need to see his crisp powerful swing. If you have yet to watch him swing, watch the pre-warm up video below!

From an early age, Matsuyama knew golf was going to be his life. To improve his golf prospects, he went in search of more challenging golf in eighth grade when he transferred to MeitokuGijuku—a Senior High school in Kochi Prefecture.

As an amateur, he studied and played for Tohoku Fukushi University, representing them at the World University Games in 2011.

Since turning professional in 2013, Matsuyama never settled for anything but his best. He has steadily risen in the world rankings and the on money list! There are no signs of complacency!

We are proud to have Hideki Matsuyama as a Phiten Ambassador and look forward to seeing what he accomplishes next. The sky is the limit and he keeps getting better and better. We consider ourselves lucky to be on this journey with him.
